This project comes from the 2026 Diamond Dollars Case Competition at the SABR Analytics Conference. Our team was tasked with determining when, why, and for whom a tradeoff from a hitter’s traditional approach, which optimizes their individual output and expected value, to a more win creation approach, which prioritizes winning the game at the expense of individual output, is justified. I served as team captain and we ultimately were selected as the winner of our room.
